KATE SHEPHERD
Kate Shepherd lives and works in New York City, where she was born in 1961.
In her unique approach to painting, Shepherd calls on her training in art and architecture, applying thread-like lines of oil paint upon highly color-saturated, glossy and durable enamel layers of enamel. These refined lines offer diagrammatic drawings of recognizable and referential structures as well as abstracted forms.
Shepherd’s work has been exhibited in galleries and museums since 1996. Her work is held in numerous public collections including The Phillips Collection, Washington, D.C.; Indianapolis Museum of Art, IN; Detroit Institute of Arts, MI; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, CA; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA; and Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, NY, among others. Shepherd has completed numerous commissions, and her work was recently included in LAND's Painting in Place exhibition in Los Angeles. She is represented by Galerie Lelong in both New York and Paris, Anthony Meier Fine Art in San Francisco, CA, and Barbara Krakow Gallery in Boston.
